Established on 29 July 2000, Associates Consulting has been providing management system consulting and training services to over 1000 companies in Singapore and across the region, such as Malaysia and Indonesia. Niche areas of expertise are in Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety with strong focus on international standards compliance. There are three primary issues with the current system that the company is employing. Firstly, consultants waste a lot of time on mundane tasks. Secondly, the current business workflow is outdated, further impeding the flow of business causing errors in addition, transposition of figures, incorrect recording of a transaction and incomplete recordings of transactions are common mistakes. Lastly, the lack of a database to capture all interactions across teams leads to a lack of transparency into the entirety of the company’s operation pipeline.
A fully digital management system aligned to the ISO 9001 standards (eISO) to replace the existing manual and silo operational workflows. The system will link-up cross-functional processes including sales, finance, project execution and management, and after-sales services thereby enhancing efficiency for ISO Management. The Food Innovation and Resource Centre (FIRC) was launched in 2007 as a joint initiative between Singapore Polytechnic and Enterprise Singapore (previously SPRING Singapore). It is established to provide food enterprises with technical expertise in new product and process development including packaging, shelf life evaluation, market testing and automation.
The food production process requires multiple machines. A production has different stages where different machines are required. The machines cannot be used concurrently, hence scheduling is the key to increasing utilisation and improve productivity.
Food SME Lite had developed input devices for supervisors to key in the utilisation period of the machines where the information will be synchronised to the cloud database. The information captured includes the machines active period, the stage of production the machine was involved and for which process.
The Project is to develop a responsive web application to access the data captured and provide insightful information of machines usage on dashboards to help improve scheduling decisions thus improving machine utilisation. This could close the gap between current production status and planning production.
Food industry producers can enhance the company’s productivity using the dashboard systems to track and view equipment and product details through clear data visualisation. Furthermore, this allows them to maximise production which ultimately increases their profit, bringing benefits to the company.

Built using multiple AIs in the domain of Named Entity Recognition (NER) and Semantic Similarity, our recommendation & recognition system is specifically catered towards SkillsFuture’s unique Skills Framework comprised of the Critical Work Functions, Key Tasks, Technical Skills & Competencies and
Critical Core skills required for a job.
The system can accurately and efficiently determine what skills our users have, encompassing a wide array of skills,
including domain-specific ones like knowledge of software, e.g., Python, Java, MySQL, converting them into the format of the Skills Framework, e.g., Cloud Computing or Computational Modelling.
Using the framework, it will then recommend the jobs most suited to our users based on their knowledge, experience, and skills that they possess, as identified by the system previously.
The pain points were the base ideology of the project was setup in previous phases as it was not ready for commercial use due to its speed and accuracy. The previous phase also had performance issues and glaringly flawed design problems that needed to resolved or rebuilt.
The project value-add to the transformation was the team providing a much faster and highly accurate back-end engine for the client to use. We also restructured and updated the Neo4j database that was already setup with updated data.
A key milestone achieved during this phase is that we are in initial stages of deployment and have set up the full application online to test and use.
The team also changed and used the XLM-RoBERTa model as our Named Entity Recognition model as it was evaluated to be the best performing model. The NER system made performed well and achieved a high f1-score which allowed us to have a well-oiled back-end engine to work on any resume given.
Furthermore, we introduced a new Semantic Similarity matching system to more accurately determine the skills that our user possesses when translated into the Skills Framework taxonomy.
We also did a revamp on the recommender system to comply with the new NER and updated database.
Key technologies introduced to the project were NLP concepts, Named Entity Recognition, Semantic Similarity, and the Neo4j database.

QlassroomPlay is a Web3-inspired learning application that encourages daily study habits through the use of cryptocurrency and gamification features. At the centre of QlassroomPlay are Pen and Book NFTs that users obtain to help them in their learning. Users can equip Pens to gain special in-game advantages during practice. Books are used to unlock subjects for users to learn about such as Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
While there are many learning applications already in the market that caters to students needs including QlassroomAI itself, not many address possible motivation and focus problems that students may have when studying. With this application, we hope to alleviate this problem by introducing gamification features to keep students interested in learning. Not only does this application complement QlassroomAI’s special learning algorithm, it also introduces some cryptocurrency concepts to students which are useful in this day and age. Consequently, QlassroomAI’s system of learning applications is diversified with the introduction of this application, ensuring that all the needs of any student is met no matter the challenges they may face.
While the development was rocky in its initial stages with the overall design going through numerous iterations, the team and the client finally reached a consensus with a combination of design proposals from both sides. The client agreed that the finalised design complemented QlassroomAI’s current design well.
Currently, the React Native application is made partially with our own assets and animations. The pen assets were made through the use of the Moralis.io NFT generation API while the rest were made through Adobe Photoshop. In the heart of the application lies the learning algorithm that provides a curated list of questions for each user based on their learning profile. The application features a friend system as well through the use of Redis that facilitates friend requests on the application.
